Cronology Features

FEATURES

Just a few of Cronology's key features ...

Features: List

EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE

Utilizes your existing hardware, backup, scalability and resilience strategies - Cronology easily installs into your existing Oracle databases

JOB TYPES

Cronology supports the execution of: binary executables, Python, Java, Perl, UNIX shell scripts, Oracle SQL*Plus scripts, Oracle stored procedures and built in file watcher functionality. All code is executed 'as is' - no additional wrappers or coding is required

REMOTE JOBS

As well as the ability to run jobs on the local database / server, Cronology allows you to run jobs on other databases using Oracle Database Net Services or jobs on other servers via SSH

FLEXIBLE MESSAGING

Configure any type of message for any type of event.  Runtime warnings can also be configured. Supported messaging mediums:

  • E-mails

  • SNMP traps

  • UNIX sockets

  • User defined Oracle procedures

MANAGE PARAMETERS

Cronology not only manages your job definitions, but the parameters they need too. Job parameters can be fixed values, environment variables or SQL queries accessing your application tables to derive their values

DEPENDENCIES

Manages simple job dependencies e.g. parent/child and resource conflicts as well as complex parameter based dependencies

SUPPORT DOCUMENTATION

Jobs can be configured with links to support documentation - operators can access job specific support documentation in a single click from the console

EASY MANUAL JOB EXECUTION

Easily run jobs manually (essential for testing) - options available to specify a delay and / or supply override parameters

ENVIRONMENTAL INDICATORS

Ever accidentally run something on the wrong environment? The console can be configured for each database to show a meaningful environment name e.g. Dev or QA. The option to colour code the console header is also available e.g. red for Production

REALTIME OUTPUT FROM PLSQL

Cronology provides API calls that enables real time logging from PL/SQL procedures - not normally available via packages such as DBMS_OUTPUT

RAC AND MULTITENANT

Cronology is fully supported in Oracle RAC and Multitenant databases

AUDITING

Built in auditing to track changes to the schedule

PROMOTE JOB DEFINITIONS

Easy promotion of jobs from one environment to another (e.g. from development to QA) via the job export feature

VIEW SOURCE CODE

View each jobs source code to aid fault analysis with a single click

DATABASE ACTIVITY

Monitor database sessions, explain plan and monitor active SQL

EASY ALERTS

Quickly create alert jobs to monitor for application or database conditions which then conditionally e-mail job output to operators
